Smart double-sided banderoles for BioBag rolls

Challenge

BioBag, the world’s leading innovator in compostable and biodegradable alternatives, doesn't just sell bags; they sell a philosophy of waste reduction. However, communicating this complex environmental value on a small consumer roll presented a unique challenge:

  • The Visibility Paradox: They needed a bold, clean brand presentation for shelf appeal, but also required significant space to explain the product's benefits and proper usage. There simply wasn't enough room for both on the face of the label.
  • The Technical Hurdle: The logical solution was to print on the reverse (adhesive) side to save space. However, compostable bio-plastic is naturally "tacky." Without proper treatment, a standard label would bond permanently to the roll, tearing the first bag upon removal.

The goal was to double the communication space to separate branding from information, without increasing the label size or damaging the delicate product.

Solution

We engineered a double-sided functional banderole to solve the "too much info, too little space" dilemma. Given the sticky nature of the product, we had to develop a solution that maximizes print surface area while chemically isolating the adhesive from the bag material.

Smart features:

  • 2x Communication Space: We utilized the reverse (adhesive) side for detailed instructions and educational text, leaving the outside clean for high-impact branding.
  • Intelligent Adhesion: We applied a neutralizing layer over specific zones of the adhesive. This ensures the label sticks only to itself (paper-to-paper) and not to the sticky bio-plastic roll.
  • Zero Damage: This specialized "deadened" adhesive prevents blocking, ensuring the customer can peel off the label and access the first bag effortlessly without tearing it.
