Challenge

In the HORECA sector, margins are tight. Manufacturers use high-speed VFFS machines with ultra-narrow sealing seams to minimize raw material usage per stick.

  • The Problem: While PE-laminates seal easily on these narrow zones, standard recyclable paper does not. It typically requires wider sealing jaws (and more material) to hold the bond.
  • The Constraint: The client needed to switch to a recyclable material without modifying their efficient machine setup or increasing the stick size. Any solution that required wider seams or slower speeds was commercially unviable.

Solution

We engineered a High-Tack Dispersion Barrier Paper specifically designed for difficult sealing conditions. Standard papers often fail on ultra-narrow jaws, but our specialized dispersion coating activates instantly at lower temperatures. This creates a fiber-tearing bond even on minimal surface areas, bridging the gap between paper sustainability and plastic-like seal integrity.
